Why Have Social Distancing?
Social distancing can control the spread of viruses. The Coronavirus is spread through person to person contact. It spreads from respiratory droplets that are produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes, which then lands in the nose or mouth of people within a 6 foot, or more radius. The virus can also live on a surface for 3 days and transfer to anyone who touches it. They are finding that it can live on many surfaces.
The less you are around other people, the less chance you have of spreading or contracting Coronavirus.
Avoid public places and cancel travel plans.
No large gatherings.
If possible, work from home.
Clean and sanitize often.
Wash your hands. A lot!
We will get through this as long as we are conscious of these things every day.

Homemade Krispy Kremes
3 tablespoons milk

1 1/2 ounces sugar (about 3 tablespoons)
1 egg

Glaze
1/3 cup butter
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

1 dash salt
oil
Glaze
1/3 cup butter
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
4 tablespoons hot water ( or as needed)
In a large measuring jug, combine the milk and boiling water. Add a teaspoon of the sugar and the yeast. Stir it gently, then leave it in a warm place for the yeast to activate (aka foam).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, the rest of the sugar, and the salt. Cut in the butter using your fingers or a pastry blender, until it resembles crumbs.
Add the egg (give it a quick beat) and yeast mixture to the flour mix, and mix into a smooth dough. This usually takes about 5 minutes of mixing.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly-floured counter and knead for about 5 to 10 minutes—it should feel springy and little bubbles should form under the surface. Place it back in the bowl, cover with a cloth or plastic wrap, and let rise for about an hour until double in size.
Once risen, place the dough onto the counter and cut it into 4 pieces. One piece at a time, stretch it into a long rope about an inch to an inch and a half wide. Cut strips about an inch long, ball em up with your hands, and place them on a baking tray or wire rack to wait.
Cover the doughnuts holes with a cloth to rise while you heat the oil to 375°F/190C
Place the doughnuts into the oil and fry until golden brown on each side, about 2 minutes. Be sure to fry only a few at a time so they don’t overcrowd and stick together.
Drain on a paper towel or wire rack over a cloth, before glazing them. Be sure to glaze them warm, or else they won’t get that delicious coverage!

Things To Do While Staying In
It's definitely a strange time we're in. We'll get through this, but it isn't easy being stuck at home. We need to be creative in the house and yard to keep active.
A few things you can do to keep busy are..
De-clutter, use the time to clean out things and rearrange or organize.
Start a blog, it's a great time to start one!
Do something you love like reading or watching a good series
Exercise or take walks (alone)
Start meditating or doing yoga
Be creative with cooking. Try new recipes!
Do scrap booking or get your photos all organized.
Get on Spotify and make some new music play lists the make you feel good.
Do jigsaw puzzles.
Most of all, stay connected!

School Closures
This no school thing is hard! We have been out since March 13th here where we live in California. I am glad they did decide to close the schools, but it's still hard. We are doing the online assignments and meetings with the teacher and students, but it's just not the same. They want to be in class with their peers and teacher. My son loves his teacher, and they love her class so it has been hard for him. I worry about them getting too lazy and slacking off, even though we try to keep them busy. I worry about social skills suffering and friendships too. I worry about grades and no physical education.
It sure will be a great day when they can go back!
